A proud Cornishman, I grew up on a farm in Crowntown near Helston and Porthleven. As a child I spent many hours watching my grandmother who was a very keen artist. I can still smell the turps and her oil paints and rags that surrounded her as she painted! Although from generations of farmers and miners I decided that art and illustration was something that I enjoyed and so on finishing school I went to Redruth School of Art. I attended an Illustration Course before successfully completing a BA Hons Degree in Art and Communication at what was then Cornwall College (now based in Falmouth). On completion of the course I moved to Melbourne in Derbyshire to work  for Rolls-Royce in their busy in-house commercial art studio. After a long career with the company I elected to take the opportunity of an early retirement, to spend more time with my grandchildren, more time painting - as well as more time in Cornwall! My subject matter is varied, but generally reflects Cornwall Derbyshire and the local people. I hope you like what you see. Kernow Bys Vyken!
