Launching Porthleven Lifeboat

Launching the old Porthleven Lifeboat - I’ve produced this watercolour painting from a series of old photographs and my own sketches and it gives a reasonable feel for how it would have looked. The boathouse in this location was opened in January 1895 and the Porthleven Lifeboat saved 50 lives until the last boat ‘DASH’ was withdrawn in September 1929. It was superseded by motor powered boats at The Lizard and Penlee.
