Red River

Red River, near Crowlas.  Across Cornwall we have two rivers, of which I’m aware, which take their common name from their original discolouration due to mining spoil. I understand this pretty spot was actually the site of a ‘black powder’ mill – supplying materials for local blasting. It’s wonderful how nature has reclaimed the river!
